Job summary

Franciscan Health Indianapolis Education and Support Services Center is seeking a Surgical Technologist Clinical educator to oversee orientation and the clinical experiences for CST students in our programs. In collaboration with the RN educator, you will coordinate experiences and ensure smooth operation of scrub role activities.

This role emphasizes evaluating student outcomes, guiding practice, and fostering inter-departmental communication with Cath Lab, OB, IR, and other areas.

Qualifications

• 3 years practical surgical technology experience.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification (NBSTSA).
• Preferred teaching experience in surgical technology programs.
• Prefer an Associate's or Bachelor's degree.

Responsibilities

• In collaboration with RN educator, implement a streamlined orientation for new hires, facilitate clinical experiences, and evaluate practice and functioning in scrub role.
• Facilitate inter-departmental communication, especially with procedural areas (Cath Lab, OB, IR, etc.).
• Coordinate the orientation process for CST employees, both new hires and existing.
• Evaluate and assess student outcomes through appropriate assessment tools/methods; actively utilize results to inform improvements at a program and course level.
• Assess competency of field staff during educational sessions and identify/report areas of weakness back to management staff.
• Facilitate the communication process between management, staff, ancillary departments, and professional contacts across the Franciscan Alliance.

• Required Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)


• Preferred 1 year prior teaching experience with preference for teaching experience as faculty in surgical technology program Preferred


• Preferred Associate's Degree


• Preferred Bachelor's Degree
