Job summary

Saint Francis Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join the Nursing Support team on the Day Shift. The role involves functioning under supervision as a first scrub/scrub assistant in operative procedures, ensuring sterile technique and patient safety.

Required Education includes graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program, NBSTSA CST certification, BLS, and preferably one year of scrub experience. Per diems and career growth opportunities are available.

Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology.
  • Licensure: Certified CST from NBSTSA.
  • Certification: BLS from American Heart Association or Red Cross.
  • Experience: Minimum one year of scrub experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the preparation of sterile/unsterile supplies and equipment.
  • Assumes responsibility for the proper care of all supplies and equipment; transports patients and assists with transferring patients from stretcher to table and vice versa; assists with lifting and positioning patients.
  • Reports unusual occurrences to the Operating Room Director or designee and contributes to the efficient and productive operations of the Operating Room.

Position Purpose

Functions as a professional under the direct and continuous supervision of qualified professional registered nurses and in accordance with established procedures and aseptic principles functions as a first scrub/scrub assistant in selected cases to render quality service to patients of all ages and surgeons during operative procedures.


What You Will Do


  • Assists with the preparation of sterile/unsterile supplies and equipment.

  • Assumes responsibility for the proper care of all supplies and equipment; transports patients and assists with transferring patients from stretcher to table and vice versa; assists with lifting and positioning patients.

  • Reports unusual occurrences to the Operating Room Director or designee and contributes to the efficient and productive operations of the Operating Room.

  • Cross-training between Main OR and Ambulatory Unit.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology.

  • Licensure: Certified CST from NBSTSA

  • Certification: BLS from American Heart Association or Red Cross required. New Requirement as of 10/1/2023, uncertified Techs have 18 months to provide proof of certification. THOfNE gives 1 chance to pass licensure exam.

  • Experience: Minimum one year of scrub experience preferred.
