Job summary

Franciscan Alliance is seeking a Clinical Education Coordinator to provide education and practice support for surgical technology students in clinical areas. You will organize clinical experiences and collaborate with RN educators to streamline orientation for new CST hires.

You will evaluate scrub role performance, coordinate inter-departmental communication, and assess student outcomes to drive program improvements across Cath Lab, OB, and IR settings.

Qualifications

• 3 years practical surgical technology experience
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification from NBSTSA
• Preferred 1 year teaching experience, preferably as faculty in a surgical technology program
• Preferred Associate's Degree
• Preferred Bachelor's Degree

Responsibilities

• Provide education and practice support to program-specific students in clinical areas
• Organize and administer the general effectiveness of clinical experiences for students
• Collaborate with RN educator to implement streamlined orientation for new hires
• Facilitate clinical experiences
• Evaluate practice and functioning in the scrub role

Job description

• Organize and administer the general effectiveness of clinical experiences for students enrolled in the program
• In collaboration with an RN educator, implement streamlined orientation for new hires
• Facilitate clinical experiences
• Evaluate practice and functioning in the scrub role
• Facilitate inter-departmental communication, especially with procedural areas such as Cath Lab, OB, and IR
• Coordinate the orientation process for CST employees, including new hires and existing employees
• Evaluate and assess student outcomes using appropriate assessment tools and methods
• Use assessment results to inform improvements at program and course levels
• Assess field staff competency during educational sessions and report areas of weakness to management
• Facilitate communication between management, staff, ancillary departments, and professional contacts across the Franciscan Alliance

Requirements

• Required 3 years practical surgical technology experience
• Required Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification from The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
• Preferred 1 year prior teaching experience, with preference for teaching experience as faculty in a surgical technology program
• Preferred Associate's Degree
• Preferred Bachelor's Degree
