Project Renewal is seeking a Clinical Coordinator for the New Providence Women's Shelter in New York City. You will supervise the Intake/Entitlements-Benefits Specialist and assist the Director of Social Services in guiding the Social Services Team to ensure policies and quality standards are followed in client services.

The role requires a BA/BS, at least three years working with homeless mentally ill or MICA populations, and supervisory experience.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct oversight of the Intake/Entitlements-Benefits Specialist.
  • Review client intake forms for accuracy and complete additional paperwork for case management intakes.
  • Audit client charts weekly to ensure adherence to regulatory standards of service quality.
  • Manage documentation of critical incidents and maintain a log of updates.
  • Participate in incident reporting committees and team meetings to determine annual goals.
  • Update caseload breakdowns and assign new clients to Case Managers.
  • Organize and maintain up-to-date spreadsheets tracking progress and performance measurements.
  • Provide feedback to the shelter program on adherence to organizational and regulatory standards of service quality and compliance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Social Services or Program Director.

Title: Clinical Coordinator

Program: New Providence Women's Shelter
Salary Range: $55,000 to $60,000 Per Year

Program Description:

The New Providence Women's Shelter is a 130 bed 24/7 emergency shelter for homeless women diagnosed with mental illness and/or substance use. Our comprehensive services include case management, individual and group counseling, recreational activities and housing placement assistance. Additionally, an on-site medical and psychiatric clinic operates Monday through Friday, staffed by a nurse, primary care physician, psychiatrists, and psychiatric nurse practitioners.

Overall Responsibilities:

Under the general direction of the Director of Social Services, with some latitude for independent action and decision making, the Clinical Coordinator directly supervises the Intake/Entitlements-Benefits Specialist and assists the Director of Social Services in the supervision of the Social Services Team and ensures that all policies and protocols are being followed by the staff in the delivery of services to the clients; performs related work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential duties of the Clinical Coordinator include but are not limited to the following activities:

  • Provides direct oversight of the Intake/Entitlements-Benefits Specialist
  • Review client intake forms regularly for accuracy and complete additional paperwork needed for the completion of case management intakes.
  • Audit client charts weekly to ensure adherence to regulatory standards of service quality.
  • Manage the documentation of critical incidents and keep a log of the updates.
  • Participate in incident reporting committees and team meetings to determine annual goals.
  • Update caseload breakdowns and assign new clients to Case Managers.
  • Organize and maintain up to date spreadsheets to track progress and updates related to performance measurements.
  • Provide feedback to the New Providence shelter program on their adherence to organizational and regulatory standards of service quality, documentation quality, and compliance requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Social Services or Program Director.

Physical Activities:

  • Job duties generally require the physical activities described below, subject to any necessary reasonable accommodation due to disability. While performing the duties of this position, the Clinical Coordinator must walk the floors of the facility, traveling up and down any of the two staircases. While the facility does have an elevator that travels to each of the six (6) floors of New Providence Women's Shelter, staff may be required to use either staircase to travel to the other floors in the event that the elevator is out of service. Staircase A has 87 steps, and Staircase B has 88 steps each stairway
  • The facility has a total of 530 stairs
  • While performing the duties of this position, the Clinical Coordinator must be able to walk the interior of the building to talk to clients and staff in the various program areas.
  • In addition, the Clinical Coordinator must be able to stand and bend in order to use client files, put them away and close them out. In the position you are also required to sit at the computer workstation for extended periods to review the client data and update the information in the case management systems.
  • Finally, the Clinical Coordinator must be able to lift or move material and equipment weighing up to 15 pounds.

Qualifications:

  • All candidates must have a Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree from an accredited college or university. However, a master's degree in social work, or a Certified Social Worker is preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of experience working with homeless Mentally Ill and Chemical Affected also known as (MICA) individuals or other special needs populations. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of supervisory experience.

  • Team Building: An ability to motivate professional and support staff to work cooperatively to provide services to clients.
  • Organizational skills: An ability to respond constructively to all situations occurring between clients and staff and to apply conflict resolution techniques to resolve issues; operate effectively under a highly pressured environment.
  • Communication: An ability to communicate both orally and in writing with staff and clients.
  • Computer skills: A knowledge of case management software as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
