Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health seeks a Patient Care Technician to assist with direct patient care under RN supervision, promoting comfort and safety. You will engage in interdisciplinary collaboration, participate in safety initiatives, and support patient flow from admission to discharge with accuracy and compassion.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and completion of a CNA/MA/PCT program or HMH PCT Apprenticeship, with preferred phlebotomy and EKG skills.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required or equivalent.
• Completion of CNA, Medical Assistant or Patient Care Technician program, or HMH PCT Apprenticeship program; candidates may enter via Apprentice track.
• Preferred: phlebotomy certification and ability to perform EKGs, vital signs, and blood glucose checks.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care based on age-appropriate criteria and participate in the patient plan of care.
• Communicate with patients, nursing colleagues, and health care team regarding status and care.
• Assist with patient safety initiatives and PI activities.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, vital signs, and specimen handling per nursing direction.
• Prepare patients for assessment, admission, and procedures; document findings in the chart.
