Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Clinical Care Technician for the Observation Unit at the Main Hospital in New Brunswick. You will support RNs with hands-on patient care, monitor vital signs, assist with daily living activities and help maintain a safe, compassionate environment.

This role requires a High School Diploma or GED, current BLS certification, and CNA or nursing assistant experience. Night shifts (7pm–7:30am) are scheduled three days per week with every other weekend and some holidays

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Nursing assistant experience or clinical experience from an accredited nursing program is preferred or a CNA certificate.

Responsibilities

• Assist with vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy and bedside care (bathing, mouth, skin care).
• Monitor vital signs and document findings in the electronic health record.
• Maintain infection control protocols and patient safety.
• Communicate with patients, families and healthcare teams to coordinate care plans.

As a Clinical Care Technician (CCT), a typical day may include:

• Assisting patients with activities of daily living and providing nursing care to patients including taking vital signs, EKGS,performing phlebotomy, assisting with bedside care, i.e. bathing, mouth care, skin care.
• Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to track patient health status
• Document patient information accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems while maintaining strict confidentiality
• Implement infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff, adhering to facility policies
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers to coordinate care plans and address concerns
• Support emergency response efforts by applying Basic Life Support (BLS) skills such as CPR when needed in acute situations
• Providing patient care, based on physical, education, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients
• Providing for effective and safe patient outcomes through practice, judgment and critical actions
• Ongoing communication with patients and nursing colleagues regarding status of patient’s care
• Participating in collaboration of our patient's plan of care from admission to discharge to ensure safe transitioning

To be considered for this CCT opportunity, you must have a High School Diploma / GED and a current American Heart Association BLS certification. Previous nursing assistant experience or clinical experience from an accredited nursing program is preferred or a CNA certificate. This position offers a 3-day a-weekschedule(36 hoursa week) from 7pm to 7:30a.m. and includes every other weekend as well as some holidays.
