Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Clinical Care Technician to join our Nursing Float Pool in New Brunswick. This role supports Registered Nurses with hands-on patient care, vital signs, and daily activities to ensure comfort and safety on the floor.

The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma or GED, current BLS, and prior CNA or related clinical experience. The position is part-time with a 7am–3:30pm schedule, including some weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification required.
• Previous nursing assistant experience or CNA certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living and provide nursing care, including vital signs.
• Monitor vital signs (BP, pulse, respiration, temperature) and track health status.
• Document patient information accurately in electronic health records (EHR).
• Implement infection control protocols to maintain a safe environment.
• Communicate with patients, families, and healthcare providers to coordinate care plans.
• Support emergency response with Basic Life Support (BLS) skills as needed.
• Provide patient care appropriate to the age and needs of the patient.
• Contribute to patient plan of care from admission to discharge.

As a Clinical Care Technician (CCT), a typical day may include:

• Assisting patients with activities of daily living and providing nursing care to patients including taking vital signs, EKGS, performing phlebotomy, assisting with bedside care, i.e. bathing, mouth care, skin care.
• Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to track patient health status.
• Document patient information accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems while maintaining strict confidentiality.
• Implement infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff, adhering to facility policies.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers to coordinate care plans and address concerns.
• Support emergency response efforts by applying Basic Life Support (BLS) skills such as CPR when needed in acute situations.
• Providing patient care, based on physical, education, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients.
• Providing for effective and safe patient outcomes through practice, judgment and critical actions.
• Ongoing communication with patients and nursing colleagues regarding status of patient's care.
• Participating in collaboration of our patient's plan of care from admission to discharge to ensure safe transitioning.

To be considered for this CCT opportunity, you must have a High School Diploma / GED and a current American Heart Association BLS certification. Previous nursing assistant experience or clinical experience from an accredited nursing program is preferred or a CNA certificate. This position offers a 2 day a week (16 hours per week) schedule from 7am to 3:30p.m. and includes every other weekend as well as some holidays.
