Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System seeks a Clinical Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support to physicians and surgeons in New York. You will coordinate patient care by serving as a liaison between physicians, patients, families, and insurance providers, and mentor less experienced staff.

The role involves assisting with procedures, vital signs, specimen handling, EMR documentation, and scheduling. Training and mentoring are expected for Level I MA staff within the practice.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Completion of a Medical Scribe training program (if the Scribe role is required by the department).
• 3+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
• BCLS certification – Required Issuing Authority: AHA.

Responsibilities

• Serve as liaison between physicians, patients, families, and insurance companies to ensure quality patient care.
• Coordinate daily activities of the physician team staff to ensure efficient operations.
• Assist with patient care tasks, vital signs, specimen collection, and documentation.
• Handle clerical duties in EMR or paper systems: charts, records, forms, and referrals.
• Assist in phlebotomy duties and verify insurance information as needed.
