Job summary

American Health Imaging Birmingham seeks a Full-time Clinical Care Coordinator (EMT, Paramedic, or RN) to provide onsite clinical support at our Birmingham imaging center. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm, with responsibilities including emergency response, contrast administration, and collaboration with technologists.

The role requires current RN/Paramedic/EMT credentials, BLS/ACLS, IV competency, and strong communication.

Qualifications

  • Current license, certification, or credential including RN, Paramedic, or EMT.

Full-time Clinical Care Coordinator

American Health Imaging Birmingham is seeking a qualified EMT, Paramedic, or Registered Nurse (RN) to provide onsite clinical support at our Birmingham, AL imaging center. This is a full-time, Monday–Friday position working 9am to 5pm. The Clinical Care Coordinator provides an onsite clinical presence for contrast administration and serves as the first responder in the event of a medical emergency at the imaging center.

Job Summary

The Clinical Care Coordinator provides onsite clinical support while working under the supervision of a licensed provider. This position is responsible for responding to medical emergencies, providing appropriate care and life-support services within your scope of practice, and coordinating with 911 and emergency personnel when needed.

The Clinical Care Coordinator also supports the technologists and patient care team to ensure a safe, efficient, and positive patient experience.

Patient Care Responsibilities

Create a positive patient and customer experience by representing the US Radiology Way.

Serve as the onsite responder during medical emergencies and coordinate rapid response efforts.

Evaluate a patient's condition and provide appropriate care within your education, training, certification, and scope of practice.

Provide Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS), as applicable to your credentials and scope of practice.

Administer medications and treatments within your scope of practice, including oxygen, glucose, and assisting with epinephrine administration when appropriate.

Use clinical equipment and medications to stabilize patients and provide emergency response treatment.

Communicate and collaborate with police, fire departments, physicians, and other emergency personnel as needed.

Serve as the point of contact for emergency personnel responding to a 911 call.

Greet and escort patients to the changing room and briefly explain the procedure.

Complete pre-exam screening and provide patient instructions.

Assist patients on and off the imaging table when requested by the technologist.

Support technologists throughout scans and contrast administration as needed.

Manage post-scan patient handoff.

Help ensure an efficient, friendly, and smooth patient experience.

Monitor center modality schedules and assist with patient flow.

Adjust patient schedules when necessary and communicate changes to technologists.

Start IVs and administer contrast media as directed and according to protocol, when permitted within your credentials and scope of practice.

Administrative & Center Support Duties

Document patient assessments, interventions, and responses to treatment.

Maintain a clean, organized, adequately stocked, and safe patient environment.

Maintain effective communication with center staff, the virtual licensed provider, and patients.

Attend required OSHA training, annual training, and mandatory company updates.

Prepare imaging rooms between patients, including changing table sheets and preparing the appropriate equipment.

Help technologists stay on schedule by having the next patient ready.

Provide front-end coverage as needed.

Support efficient patient throughput throughout the center and across imaging modalities.

Complete other tasks and projects as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

Current license, certification, or credential including Registered Nurse, Paramedic, or EMT.

Current BLS certification and ACLS certification

IV credentials/competency

Knowledge of medical procedures, terminology, medications, and emergency response.

Knowledge of MRI safety and imaging center procedures

Ability to follow company policies, protocols, HIPAA requirements, and safety guidelines.

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing needs

Ability to remain calm and effective during difficult or emergency situations

Working Conditions

Must be able to stand, stoop, lift, and walk without restrictions.

May require lifting up to 100 lbs. maximum, with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 lbs.

Must be able to see, hear, speak, write, and use a computer/keypad.
