Job summary

UofL Health is seeking a capable unit clerk to provide essential clerical and patient support on the medical unit in Louisville. The role emphasizes accurate transcription of orders, proper chart maintenance, and timely communication with nurses and physicians.

You will assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges, perform phlebotomy and basic tests, and help with mobility, hygiene, and daily care under RN guidance. A patient-centered, professional approach is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Completion of a recognized Clinical Assistant, Medical Assistant or EMT Training Program is preferred.
• Basic Life Support certification (BLS) is required.
• Certification as CNA, CMA or EMT is preferred.
• Enrollment or licensure in nursing with Fundamentals of Nursing completed is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transcribes and transmits physician orders accurately.
• Maintains patient records and charts in proper order.
• Performs phlebotomy, EKG lead placement and basic respiratory tasks.
• Provides patient care support under RN supervision with a courteous, professional demeanor.
• Adheres to HIPAA and safety procedures; assists with admissions, transfers and discharges.
