Position SummaryPosition SummaryThe Nutrition and Dietetics (ND) Program at the School of Health & Human Sciences at IU Indianapolis invites applicants for a 10-month clinical assistant track position. This is a faculty position in general nutrition that will begin August 1, 2025.
We are seeking candidates for a clinical track position who have a strong teaching and scholarship background to teach in our undergraduate and graduate program. The ideal candidates will have teaching and practice experience in clinical nutrition, supervising a teaching kitchen, and familiarity with the accreditation standards specified by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics ( ACEND ). The ND program is housed in the newly renovated Health Science Building which includes a state-of-the-art teaching kitchen.
The ND program is part of a dynamic academic and research community in the School of Health and Human Sciences ( SHHS ), 15 research labs and institutes, and over 400 clinical and community partnerships. IU Indianapolis is Indiana's premier urban public R1 research university and holds a Carnegie Classification for Community Engagement. It is home to more than 22,000 students pursuing degrees across 17 distinct schools, including the Indiana University School of Medicine, the largest medical school in the United States. The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching in their area of expertise in the Nutrition and Dietetics program, professional and university service. Faculty rank and salary commensurate with experience and academic credentials.

Basic QualificationsCandidates should have at least a master's degree in nutrition or a closely related field; however, a doctoral level degree is preferred.
They must also be credentialed as a registered dietitian nutritionist by the Commission on Dietetic Registration and have a minimum of three years of professional experience post-credentialing. Additionally, the ideal candidates will have a strong commitment to teaching, scholarship of teaching and learning, and advising undergraduate and graduate students. Achieving our department's mission requires both positions to support the core nutrition courses and programs in concert with the SHHS mission for advancing knowledge in human development and well-being through rigorous scholarship and education.
Major responsibilities of this position are teaching in the undergraduate and graduate curriculum, overseeing the maintenance of program accreditation, student recruitment, policy development, academic and career guidance/mentoring to students and teaching assistants. Curriculum development and systematic program review. Participate in service activities that contribute to the advancement of the department (e.g., department, school, university, and professional organizations). Demonstrate collegiality in all aspects of faculty engagement. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential. The successful candidate will bring a vision for adaptation and continuous quality improvement in teaching effectiveness and the potential to assist in the design and development of new courses and/or course revisions. The candidate should also be skilled at teaching in all modalities including online and face to face.
