The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Virginia is seeking candidates for a tenure-ineligible Assistant Professor position. This primary inpatient role focuses on managing patients following Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) during the acute/rehabilitation, subacute, and chronic phases of care.
The position includes leadership of the Joint Commission-certified SCI Rehabilitation Program at UVA Encompass Health Joint Venture Rehabilitation Hospital (UVA-EH), including year-round supervision of a resident physician. It also involves leading an outpatient SCI Care Coordination Program, overseeing a dedicated Nurse Practitioner and RN Care Coordinator. Opportunities for outpatient spasticity management procedures, such as guided chemodenervation and intrathecal baclofen pump management, are available.
Inpatient and outpatient care sites are adjacent. The candidate will provide night and weekend call coverage at UVA-EH on a rotational basis.
This position will remain open until filled. The university will perform background checks on all new hires, and a pre-employment health screen is required prior to employment.

Qualifications
A MD or DO is required, with board certification or eligibility by the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. The candidate must be committed to a career in academic medicine and interested in combining clinical practice with resident education and/or research.
