The Department of Medicine's Division of Hospital Medicine at the University of Virginia, School of Medicine, seeks multiple academic Hospitalists to join a growing practice of more than 40 physicians with expanding roles in the UVA Health System. Teaching opportunities in our residency program and medical school are abundant. Rank and compensation are contingent upon qualifications and experience.
Our practice has exceptional support from health system leadership and leads a variety of initiatives to improve quality of patient care and clinical operations. We also provide medical co-management for orthopedic surgery and oncology patients. Our faculty represent a broad range of academic interests and expertise in medical education, clinical research, and quality and patient safety.Opportunities exist for all of the following roles, which offer equivalent compensation when adjusted based on years of experience and rank.Traditional academic hospitalist (182 shifts/year with a mixture of direct care, co-management, and traditional teaching wards)Nocturnist (130 night shifts per year)Hybrid nocturnist (65 night shifts and 91 daytime shifts per year)The successful candidate will pass a background check and pre-employment health/drug screening. This is an exempt-level, benefited position.QualifiationsCandidates must have an MD or DO and be board-certified/board-eligible in Internal Medicine by appointment start date. These tenure-ineligible faculty positions are designed for physicians focused on excellence in clinical care, quality and safety, and medical education, including potential leadership opportunities in these domains, and research is not required in these positions. Successful candidates may possess prior experience in Hospital Medicine, or be beginning a career in academic hospital medicine.
