Clinical Assistant Professor

About This Role

The School of Health Sciences, within the College of Health and Human Sciences, is seeking a 12-month Clinical Assistant Professor to join the Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) program. This position involves teaching professional coursework, clinical supervision, program coordination, and contributing to the broader mission of the school and college. It is a non-tenure track position reporting directly to the program chair.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Maintaining a 0.9 FTE teaching load focusing on didactic coursework (undergraduate and/or graduate) and clinical supervision.
  • Contributing to the CSD program through graduate admissions, examinations, curriculum review, academic advising, and other service roles.
  • Teaching and supervising clinical practice during fall, spring, and summer semesters.
  • Serving on committees related to program, school, and college issues.
  • Collaborating and communicating effectively with campus constituents.

This position, starting ideally in August 2025, offers a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

About Us

The Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) program prepares students for careers in speech-language pathology, focusing on human communication and swallowing across the lifespan. The program offers undergraduate and graduate education, with the master's program accredited by the ASHA.

The College of Health and Human Sciences prepares passionate individuals for careers promoting human well-being in various fields, offering 16 undergraduate and 22 graduate programs.

What You'll Need to Succeed
Minimum Qualifications
  • M.S./M.A. or Clinical Doctorate in CSD
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC)
  • Kansas licensure in speech-language pathology and ability to supervise graduate students at the K-State Speech and Hearing Center.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication with diverse campus stakeholders.
  • ASHA certification in Speech-Language Pathology.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in clinical teaching and supervision.
  • Experience with client and family-centered care in communication and swallowing disorders.
  • Over three years of clinical experience.
  • Experience in university teaching or graduate supervision.
  • Leadership experience in projects or teams.
  • Eligibility for graduate faculty status.
  • At least two hours of professional development in clinical teaching/supervision.
