Job summary

Children’s of Alabama’s pediatric Hematology/ Oncology unit seeks a Staff Level caregiver to assist with patient care and clear communication within a busy hospital setting. You will work under RN/LPN supervision in the MedSurg 8 unit at Main Campus—Quarterback Tower—supporting patients, families and staff with compassion.

Requirements include a High School diploma or GED, current BLS, and at least 1 year of related experience or equivalent credentials (CNA, CMA, CMA-A, Patient Care Tech, EMT).

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Current BLS certification required.
• One year of job experience as Staff Level with specialization in Patient Care Support or equivalent qualifications (CNA, CMA, CMA roles, CMA-A, PATIENT CARE TECH, EMT, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Provide assistive care and communication for patients, team members, professionals, and visitors.
• Work under supervision of RNs and LPNs in MedSurg 8 Quarterback at Main Campus Quarterback Tower.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Work schedule will be Full-time on the Evening Night Shift, 3 12 hour shifts per week.

Summary

Works under the supervision of RNs and LPNs to provide assistive care and communication for patients, team members, professional, and technical staff, and visitors.

Education

• High school diploma or GED equivalent

Experience

• Licensures, Certifications, and/or Registries
• Current BLS certification required

• 1 Year job experience as Staff Level with specialization in the field of Patient Care Support or any of the following equivalent qualifications below:
• Certified Nursing Assistant
• Certified Medical Assistant AAMA
• Certified Clinical Medical Assistant
• Certified Medical Assistant ARMA
• Certified Patient Care Technician
• Certified Emergency Medical Technician ADPH
