Position

MedSurg 8 Quarterback at Main Campus Quarterback Tower

Work schedule will be Full-time on the Night Shift, 3 12‑hour shifts, nightshift, every third weekend.

Summary

Responsible for the assessment, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of the delivery of patient care on the assigned shift. Supervises and evaluates work performance in accordance with established criteria‑based standards of performance. Responsible for the coordination of clinical operations.

Education

• Requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in nursing, which must be achieved within three years of starting the role.
• An Associate's degree RN currently in the role may be grandfathered in.

Experience

• Bachelors in nursing or related field with 2 years or more of clinical nursing experience preferred including 1 year of recent pediatric/psych/OR nursing experience preferred.

Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registries

• Current RN License in the State of Alabama.
• Current BLS certification.

Credentials with Equivalent Qualifications

• Basic Life Support
• Registered Nurse AL Single State or any of the following equivalent qualifications below:
• Registered Nurse AL NLC Multi State
• Registered Nurse Non-AL NLC Multi State

Education with Equivalent Qualifications

Department Overview

Children’s of Alabama's pediatric Hematology / Oncology department proudly serves a diversity of patient populations throughout the Southeast. Patients’ ages range from birth through adolescence with a variety of hematological and oncological disorders. The Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Unit has 24 beds and is located in the Quarterback Tower of the Benjamin Russell Hospital for Children in Birmingham, Alabama. The division prides itself on innovation, teamwork, commitment, compassion, understanding, and clinical excellence. It is recognized as a Center of Excellence in the delivery of progressive therapies to children battling cancer. The department provides opportunities such as a comprehensive orientation program, continuing education, mentoring, preceptorships, and more. Schedule
