Job summary

UCSF is seeking an Imaging IT Tier 2 support specialist to manage a suite of Imaging IT applications, including Workflow Orchestrator, DICOM Router, Vendor Neutral Archive, and Enterprise and Diagnostic Viewers, and AI tools. You will work with departments across the UCSF enterprise to discover dataflows, configure, test, and deploy imaging acquisition and exchange workflows.

Candidate will be responsible for working with departments throughout the UCSF enterprise to perform work/dataflow discovery, configure, test, and deploy imaging acquisition and image exchange workflows. Maintaining a good partnership with departments throughout the medical center is an important aspect of providing an excellent standard of care and customer service. Incumbent is required to meet with operational partners, develop Enterprise Imaging solution strategies and present options to leadership. Incumbent will be responsible for managing application upgrades and system change management.

Candidates must have strong experience in DICOM, HL7, FHIR, IOCM, and other Imaging IT workflows. In addition, the candidate will be a part of the Imaging IT Team, ITIL Service Management, Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and change management processes. Successful candidates should thrive in a dynamic environment, deal well with conflict, lead system outages and internal change management processes, and manage multiple stakeholder requests daily. The candidate must be a self-starter and be able to manage small projects (less than 200 effort-hours) with a viable project delivery plan across other IT partners. The incumbent is required to participate in rotating evening and weekend on-call coverage. Candidates must work with their peers and leadership in preserving the UCSF PRIDE culture. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.

Department Overview

The UCSF Department of Radiology Imaging IT team architects, implements, and manages the computer systems and networks needed to support more than 700,000 imaging studies annually. The Imaging IT team manages a complex application portfolio and end-user support. The Imaging IT portfolio supports over 28 imaging applications and over 100 diagnostic workstations. The team collaborates with cross-functional departments daily to deploy various imaging IT projects and workflows. The team provides Monday -Friday 8am to 5pm support including evening and weekend call to support the Medical Center needs.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
• 5-7 years of Imaging IT support experience
• Broad and/or in-depth knowledge of 4-5 areas of focus in clinical applications specialty area(s). Knowledge of systems and functions, including design, development, implementation, user support and training, maintenance, quality assurance, and system testing and evaluation.
• Working knowledge of the operations of Clinical Imaging IT systems and the policies, processes, and practices involved with managing, storing, and transferring medical images/data - including DICOM and HL7.
• Working knowledge of operations and documentation protocols, with demonstrated analytical skills and the ability to work effectively on teams to test and evaluate system performance, and implement new programs, upgrades, and hardware.
• Working knowledge of installing, configuring and trouble-shooting operating system and application software on Microsoft Windows computer systems. Employee should be able to connect via SSH,VNC and RDP to remotely manage Windows, Linux, and Unix systems, to remotely diagnose problems and perform file management functions.
• Knowledge of security programs. Familiarity with DICOM communication language and transfer syntaxes, SOP classes, and compression types.
• Strong background in Vendor Neutral Archive, Enterprise Viewers, Diagnostic Viewers, Worflow Orchestartors, Radiation Dose management solutions, DICOM Routers, post processing systems, and AI tools
• Strong problem-resolution skills, with the ability to quickly diagnose problems, and develop, test, and implement appropriate and effective solutions in a timely manner.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train, support, and work collaboratively with users of clinical information systems at all professional and technical levels.
• Detail-oriented, with proven organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage time, prioritize tasks, and see projects through to completion on deadline.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information and instructions to all levels of clinical applications users in a specific, clear, and concise manner.
• Strong analytical skills and knowledge in documentation and reporting, with the ability to design and execute tests, analyze system performance data, and produce substantive reports and analyses.
• Ability to work with senior staff and managers, serving as a technical resource and providing advice and counsel on issues of functionality, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, policy, and performance.
