Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an experienced Epic Application Support professional to provide end-to-end support for Epic and third-party healthcare applications. The role emphasizes optimizing clinical workflows, collaborating with IT, leadership, and vendors, and delivering reliable, well-documented solutions.

The ideal candidate will have RN licensure, Epic certifications, and 2+ years in IT/healthcare/EHR initiatives, with strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

  • RN license active in Texas or eligible to practice.
  • Epic Application Certification required within six months of hire and after two attempts.
  • Minimum two years in IT, healthcare, EHR development/implementation.
  • Experience with Epic EHR preferred.
  • ITIL certification preferred.
  • Current clinical licensure/certification must be maintained.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for Epic and third-party applications used by supported departments.
  • Implement, support, maintain, and optimize applications, systems, and technologies.
  • Collaborate with IT teams, leadership, end users, internal and external stakeholders, and vendors.
  • Understand operational needs and design and implement solutions meeting business requirements.
  • Design, build, and test Epic and third-party applications for implementation, optimization, and ongoing support.
  • Perform comprehensive application testing, document testing progress, report and resolve issues.
  • Facilitate workflow design and validation with end users.
  • Assess and document workflows by interviewing and shadowing users.
  • Identify improvement areas and optimize workflows using best practices.
  • Follow software support and maintenance methodologies, policies, and procedures.
  • Recommend technology solutions that improve clinical and operational quality and efficiency.
  • Coach and mentor junior team members.
  • Complete implementation tasks within project scope, timelines, and budgets; potentially manage multiple implementations.
  • Update requests and project tasks and communicate status updates.
  • Report project and request risks promptly to team members and manager.
  • Coordinate installation of application changes through change-control processes.
  • Assess incoming incidents, resolve issues, or escalation appropriately.
  • Use departmental processes and tools to ensure SLA compliance.
  • Participate in on-call coverage.
  • Adjust work hours for scheduled or unscheduled downtimes and implementations.
  • Perform other related duties as required or requested.

Job description

Requirements
  • RN License to practice professional nursing in the state of Texas required
  • Certification in the assigned (1) Epic Application is required within six (6) months of hire and within 2 attempts
  • High School Diploma or GED (Bachelor’s highly recommended)
  • Minimum of two (2) years recent experience in IT, healthcare, EHR development, and/or implementation
  • Experience with Epic EHR preferred
  • Knowledge of industry standard practices in application support function
  • ITIL certification preferred
  • Current clinical licensure or certification must be maintained in accordance with the respective state governing board
  • Ability to communicate effectively via verbal or written methods
  • Ability to interpret and complete technical assignments with minimal supervision and/or guidance
  • Ability to interact professionally with diverse end users, internal/external teams, and vendors
  • Knowledge of healthcare operations, workflows, policies, and regulations
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Outstanding analytical and problem solving/resolution skills
  • General knowledge and understanding of supported applications
  • Ability to understand and redefine processes to implement technology solutions effectively
  • Detail-oriented, well-organized, and ownership of project success
  • Excellent customer service qualities
  • Ability to participate in on-call coverage

  • Medium physical demand, including walking, sitting, and standing most of the time
