Job Summary

The Senior Epic Application Analyst is responsible for advancing the functionality and operational efficiency of Information Systems utilizing their expertise in Epic Applications. This entails intermediate to advanced analysis, design, configuration and implementation. The position is responsible for ensuring integration of technology into effective workflow and process design as well as ensuring operational efficiency of assigned Epic applications and integrated technology. Supports users with advanced ongoing analysis, consultation, complex problem‑solving, collaboration and application support. Also contributes to system training and operates as a technical resource on Epic while assuming higher level project responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Associate’s degree, preferred
  • Epic Certification required (Clin/Doc)
  • Four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in a large, corporate systems development and implementation activities in a wide variety of Healthcare Information Systems (MIS) or similar experience in system analysis, design, building, testing, and implementation
  • Experience with system integration and third‑party solutions
  • Experience in supporting complex problems
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Epic application support, development tools and methodologies
  • Good analytical skills and technical aptitude
  • Good planning and organizational skills
  • Good communication, collaboration and customer service skills
  • Demonstrated pattern of growth in ability to lead others
Principal Accountabilities
Systems Development
  • Translate user and department Epic system needs into technical solutions
  • Perform project reviews and process walk‑throughs incorporating technical, clinical and business solutions that enhance user productivity and department service levels
Technical Administration
  • Provide technical knowledge in support of Epic and other software applications and operating systems
  • Perform intermediate to advanced analysis, design, building, testing, and implementation of Epic and other computer programs and systems
  • Apply information systems theory, processes and methodologies
Technical Standards
  • Advocate for setting and enforcing technical development, application support and information management standards within and outside of the Information Systems Department
Application Support
  • Demonstrate in‑depth knowledge and techniques in supporting development projects and complex problem‑solving efforts involving Epic and other applications
  • Participate in after‑hours technical support by rotating call schedule on a regular basis
  • Provide ongoing Epic support to users
Planning & Coordinating
  • Develop, prioritize and execute projects according to established schedules and timeframes
  • Maintain an effective level of coordination on all assigned projects
  • Document and report on all plans, priorities and schedules, informing manager of status of all project assignments regularly
Training
  • Contribute to the preparation and delivery of training sessions for staff
Communications
  • Think, plan, lead and act appropriately in tactical settings
  • Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal relationship skills
Customer Service
  • Provide effective customer service by being courteous, polite and friendly toward others at all times
  • Acknowledge customers immediately to determine need and help the customer resolve issue or request
Other
  • Ensure safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adhere to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service
  • Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency, supports department‑based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serve as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff
