Barrington James is partnering with a global medical device organisation specialising in spinal technologies. We seek an experienced Clinical Accounts Manager to support growth across the Midwest, covering Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin.

The role offers field-based engagement with surgeons, hospital stakeholders and distributors to drive adoption and optimal outcomes. The ideal candidate will have OR experience (3–5 years) in medical devices, spine knowledge, and strong relationship-building,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3–5 years of operating room experience within a medical device sales or clinical support role.
  • Previous experience within spine medical devices is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the operating room environment and surgeon engagement.
  • Knowledge of healthcare industry regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills with surgeons, clinical staff and internal commercial teams.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced field-based environment.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Regional Sales leadership to develop and execute strategic account plans across the territory.
  • Provide clinical support to surgeons and healthcare professionals using the company's spinal technology portfolio.
  • Support new surgeon and customer onboarding to ensure successful adoption and optimal clinical outcomes.
  • Identify and coordinate ongoing training requirements for surgeons, clinical teams, operating room personnel and commercial partners.
  • Deliver clinical education and product training to internal sales teams and distribution partners.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, Medical Education and other internal stakeholders to support commercial growth.
  • Support the development and execution of clinical engagement plans to strengthen surgeon relationships and increase technology utilisation.
  • Work alongside Marketing and Sales Training teams to support educational initiatives and enhance product knowledge.
  • Ensure appropriate compliance with relevant healthcare industry regulations and guidelines.
  • Develop strong relationships with healthcare professionals and key stakeholders across assigned accounts.
  • Identify strategic growth opportunities and communicate market insights internally.
  • Support the execution of wider corporate and commercial objectives across the region.

The Opportunity

We are partnering with a growing global medical device organisation specialising in innovative technologies for the treatment of cervical and lumbar spinal conditions.

The company has developed a highly established and clinically proven portfolio of motion-preserving spinal technologies and is continuing to expand its commercial presence across the United States.

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Clinical Accounts Manager to support continued growth across the Midwest region, covering Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin.

This field-based role will work closely with surgeons, hospital stakeholders, distributors and internal commercial teams to ensure excellent clinical outcomes, support product adoption and drive utilisation across the territory.

The successful candidate will ideally be based in or around Chicago, Illinois, with easy access to a major airport.

Key Responsibilities

Candidate Requirements

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3–5 years of operating room experience within a medical device sales or clinical support role.
  • Previous experience within Spine medical devices is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the operating room environment and surgeon engagement.
  • Experience providing clinical case support and product education.
  • Knowledge of healthcare industry regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively with surgeons, clinical staff and internal commercial teams.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced field-based environment.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to changing workflows and commercial priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook.
