Job description

This position will receive an hourly differential (additional compensation) in addition to the base hourly rate.

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
  • Assists practitioners in performing procedures, handling telephone prescription orders/refills, maintaining patient records, and relaying test results. Performs delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a physician or mid-level practitioner.
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
  • The Primary Care teams at Samaritan Health Services provide comprehensive healthcare for all family members, from newborns to seniors, through pediatric, family medicine, and internal medicine providers. They promote preventive care, including annual exams, health screenings, and counseling on health and lifestyle.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
  • Current unencumbered Oregon Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic licensure required.
  • Healthcare Provider BLS certification required.
  • Experience or training in medical terminology preferred.
  • Lab/EKG experience preferred.
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience preferred.

  • Patient Care: Skills and knowledge to assist and care for patients, recognize symptoms, understand drug properties and interactions, treatments, and preventive health measures within scope of practice.
  • Adaptability/Flexibility: Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to high-risk or diverse patient situations and to adapt actions to provide the best care.
  • Communication: Effective written and oral skills to explain complex issues, exchange information, and discuss issues tactfully. Capable of group presentations and understanding complex information.
  • Team Building: Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and develop constructive relationships.
  • Medical Terminology: Knowledge of medical records, procedures, and terminology; ability to interpret and apply policies, laws, and regulations.
  • Social Perceptiveness: Ability to work with diverse populations, understand age-related differences, and demonstrate sensitivity and a non-judgmental attitude towards others.
