Job summary

Cape Fear Valley Health is seeking a Patient Representative for the Stedman Medical Care clinics. The role focuses on ensuring smooth patient flow, accurate billing support, and timely entry of ICD-10 and CPT-4 codes for charge records.

Responsibilities include registering patients, scheduling initial and follow-up visits, collecting payments, updating medical records, and assisting with transcription and basic office duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year of clerical experience required.
• 1 year of medical business office or significant public contact preferred.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Type 45-55 words per minute accurately.
• Ability to work with patients under stress; strong planning and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT-4 coding for Part B billables preferred.
• PC skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Register patients expediently and schedule appointments.
• Update new patient information and medical records.
• Receive calls and schedule provider appointments.
• Collect payments and document receipts; prepare cash reports.
• Enter ICD-10 and CPT-4 coding for patient activity daily.
• Transcribe non-medical dictation.
• Submit billing invoices to billing/collection daily under supervision.
• File, fax, and/or mail reports and records.
• Compile and submit month-end reports in a timely manner.
• Assist in tracking supply inventory and greet patients.
