Job summary

Bakersfield Family Medical Group, Inc. is seeking a Medical Assistant Ward Clerk to support clinical operations in a busy clinic. You will greet patients, help with intake, document vital signs, and schedule referrals and appointments within NextGen workflows.

You will back up reception, manage NextMD messaging, administer vaccines, and assist in coordinating care with providers. A Medical Assistant credential and BLS are required, with prior clinic experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or certificate required.
• Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
• Medical Assistant Diploma/Certificate required.
• Current BLS certification.
• Current venipuncture certification.
• Working knowledge of computers and scheduling preferred.
• One year of physician's office or clinic experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patients; manage intake notes and vital signs.
• Schedule appointments per physician/department guidelines.
• Process referrals and maintain NextGen MA workflow.
• Back-up reception and manage EHR communications.
• Maintain infection control, PPE use and sterile technique.
• Assist with medications, vaccines, and documentation.
• Support providers and coordinate with departments and external partners.
• Handle complaints professionally and keep a clean work area.
