Job description

Join to apply for the Clinic Medical Assistant role at CHI.

Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of the healthcare provider, deliver patient care promoting safety and wellbeing.
  • Perform preliminary physical tests such as measuring blood pressure, recording weight, temperature, pulse, and respirations.
  • Perform general patient care following established standards and procedures.
  • Greet and prepare patients for the healthcare provider.
  • Obtain and record vital signs, allergies, medications, and presenting problems.
  • Draw blood samples and prepare specimens for lab analysis if required.
  • Administer medications and vaccines as ordered.
  • Perform routine tests like EKGs.
  • Schedule diagnostic tests and follow up on completion.
  • Communicate test results and care plans to patients.
  • Maintain instruments and equipment, keep exam rooms clean and stocked, dispose of contaminated items properly.
  • Document patient care, tests, and examination results accurately.
  • Escalate non-routine issues to the practice manager or healthcare provider.
  • Ensure safety checklists and quality controls are completed.
  • Protect patient safety and privacy rights.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification required.
  • Active American Heart Association BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Preferred: 2 years of Medical Assistant experience and EHR experience.
