Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of the healthcare provider, deliver patient care promoting safety and wellbeing.
- Perform preliminary physical tests such as measuring blood pressure, recording weight, temperature, pulse, and respirations.
- Perform general patient care following established standards and procedures.
- Greet and prepare patients for the healthcare provider.
- Obtain and record vital signs, allergies, medications, and presenting problems.
- Draw blood samples and prepare specimens for lab analysis if required.
- Administer medications and vaccines as ordered.
- Perform routine tests like EKGs.
- Schedule diagnostic tests and follow up on completion.
- Communicate test results and care plans to patients.
- Maintain instruments and equipment, keep exam rooms clean and stocked, dispose of contaminated items properly.
- Document patient care, tests, and examination results accurately.
- Escalate non-routine issues to the practice manager or healthcare provider.
- Ensure safety checklists and quality controls are completed.
- Protect patient safety and privacy rights.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification required.
- Active American Heart Association BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
- Preferred: 2 years of Medical Assistant experience and EHR experience.
