Job summary

MercyOne Health System seeks a Clinic Lab Assistant to join a fast-paced outpatient clinic. You will perform phlebotomy, collect and process specimens, and prepare lab orders and reports in accordance with regulatory standards. You will greet patients, verify orders, and support clerical tasks as needed.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, and phlebotomy training is preferred. BLS certification within 30 days of hire is required, along with solid computer skills and English

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of phlebotomy training preferred.
• BLS certification from American Heart Association or Red Cross within 30 days of hire; must be maintained.
• Proficient in basic computer skills (Windows, email, MS Office).
• Ability to read, write and understand English and communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy and laboratory support in outpatient clinic.
• Greet patients, verify orders, collect and process specimens, and prepare lab orders/reports.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot lab equipment; conduct quality control.
• Enter and manage data in the EHR; ensure accurate billing and documentation.
