Job summary

Iberia Medical Center (IMC) in New Iberia, LA is hiring a Physician Practice Specialist for the Family Practice Clinic. The role involves front desk duties including greeting patients, checking in/out, collecting co-pays, verifying insurance, and entering demographics under supervision.

Experience with Medicaid billing rules, and a billing/coding program certification are preferred. Training new staff and supporting clinic operations are part of the responsibilities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Certification from a billing/coding program preferred.
• Minium one-year billing/coding experience preferred.
• Experience interacting with the public as a customer.
• Medical practice background preferred.
• 3–5 years filing and collection of Medicaid rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Answers phones and takes detailed messages.
• Prepares charts for clinic.
• Greets and assists patients.
• Assist with registration inputting demographics.
• Verifying of insurance.
• Collecting and entering of charges and payments.
• Balances charges and payments at the end of clinic.
• Communicates with referring offices to gain information.
• Assists in training new employees.
