Position Summary:

Performs routine and/or specialized cardiac ultrasound exams. The echo cardiographer acquires/analyses data using diagnostic medical ultrasound and related technologies providing calculations/data for medical staff interpretations.

What the Clinic Echo Technologist will Do:
  • Performs routine and specialized echocardiograms using {M-mode, 2D, 3D, Color/ Spectral Doppler, and related technologies} in accordance with SDMS, ASE, ICEAL, ARDMS and ACC/AHA standards/guidelines. Performs and assists with graded exercise and pharmacological stress echocardiographic procedures. Other types of studies may be performed as developed. Coordinates/assists with performing Transesophageal Echocardiograms and optimizing images and data.
  • Operate, maintain and optimize ultrasound and related equipment.
  • Transport ultrasound equipment to patient units {general floor, Cath lab, recovery, emergency, intensive care} as required performing bedside exams.
  • Review patient charts and perform assessments to optimize and perform symptom-focused procedures.
  • Acquire and analyze data to prepare worksheets for medical review and interpretation.
  • Function in an educational capacity for patients, family, nurses, physicians, and other audiences.
  • Participate in quality assurance and clinical competency processes.
  • Cover on-call duties responding to off-hour/emergent calls (24/7).
What the Clinic Echo Technologist will Need:
  • Graduate of a two-year approved or CAAHEP-accredited program.
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) with ARDMS or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) with CCI. If not credentialed, must attain credentials within 1 year of hire. Maintain registry status per CE requirements.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
  • Certification or re-certification in CPR within three months of hire.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and perform push/pull tasks with similar force.
  • Preferred: Bachelor degree from an accredited CAAAHEP program.
  • Preferred: One or more years of ultrasound experience.
