Job summary

McPherson Hospital Inc. is seeking an Admitting Clerk to support patient access through pre-registration, registration, and check-in processes. The role involves accurate data capture, insurance entry, and patient education in a busy onsite environment.

You will greet patients and coordinate with departments to answer questions or route requests, ensuring high-quality service and adherence to privacy standards. This is a PRN/on-site position requiring flexibility across shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and one year of satisfactory clerical experience.
• Ability to commute/relocate if needed. In person positions only available for Admissions.
• Capability to sit and work with a computer for extended periods.
• Customer service driven ability to answer a multi-line phone system and transfer if needed.
• Successful applicants will be self-motivated and able to work well both unsupervised and part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Registration and admission process activities with outstanding customer service to patients, visitors, and coworkers.
• Identify patients presenting for services through review of identification and ensure identity 100% of the time; generate wristbands if applicable.
• Explain and obtain signatures for general consent, HIPAA Notice of Privacy Protection, and other forms.
• Enter and verify accurate insurance information; notate patient account regarding insurance status.
• Scan patient information and signed consent forms into the electronic medical record 100% of the time.
• Orient and educate admitted patients about their rights and provide admission packets.
• Provide clerical/PBX support to the medical providers and outpatient service departments; handle phones and messages.
• May assist ER in arranging transportation for discharged patients and compile Pre-Census reports.
