Parkwest offers a range of cardiac and acute care services and is staffed by a nursing Float Pool that covers multiple units across the hospital.
Float Pool
Our float pool consists of registered nurses, patient care assistants, and health unit coordinators who are trained to staff all acute care and specialty units. Units served include:
- Oncology, Post Surgical
- Orthopedic‑Neuro, Bariatric
- Cardiac Specialty
- Cardio‑Thoracic Surgical
- Complex Medical Unit
- Acute Renal, Pulmonary
- Senior Behavioral Health
- Emergency Department
- Critical Care
We require at least one year of recent RN experience. Float pool staff receive an additional differential for the flexibility of the role.
Position Summary
Provide professional nursing care within an assigned unit; coordinate care planning with other disciplines.
Responsibilities
- Correlate patient history and support systems within hospital/nursing home care.
- Assess needs of patient and family.
- Develop and initiate plan of care, involving patient and family.
- Recommend interventions.
- Evaluate plan of care.
- Use clinical expertise to resolve complex patient/management/physician problems without supervision.
- Demonstrate competence in performing critical skills appropriate to age‑specific needs.
- Lead or participate in process improvement initiatives.
- Precept new employees/students or attend formal preceptor workshops; review preceptee performance.
- Provide four contact hours of educational activities, excluding basic patient education.
- Contribute to development and evaluation of unit orientation program.
- Supervise LPNs, Nursing Assistants, HUCs, Techs, and sitters.
- Follow policies, procedures, and safety standards; complete required education annually.
- Work toward achieving goals and objectives and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum Education: None specified; must meet standards for RN licensure.
- Minimum Experience: 3 years professional nursing experience.
- Licensure Requirement: Tennessee State RN licensure; CPR required.
