Job summary

The Student Union, Inc. of San Jose State University seeks a part-time Climbing Wall Assistant at the Spartan Recreation and Aquatic Center in San Jose, CA. You will assist the Climbing Wall Supervisor with daily operations, safety, and instructional duties for climbing programs and events.

Must be a matriculated SJSU student enrolled at least half-time and hold current First Aid/CPR/AED certification. The role includes a dynamic work schedule and opportunities to contribute to a welcoming

Qualifications

• Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification required; Red Cross preferred.
• Attend in-house climbing training program.
• Prior instructor or leadership experience preferred.
• Prior ropes or climbing experience preferred.
• Must be a matriculated SJSU student enrolled at least half-time.

Responsibilities

• Assist in daily operations at the climbing wall and bouldering area.
• Assist in instruction of climbing courses and safety of climbers.
• Uphold safety rules and perform equipment inspections as needed.
• Collaborate with staff across Spartan Recreation facilities.
• Support planning and setup of climbing programs and events.
