Job summary

Purdue University is seeking a part-time RecWell Climbing Wall Lead – Student Service to provide safe instruction, belay and bouldering training, and customer-focused service in a dynamic climbing facility.

Responsibilities include teaching courses, supporting program development, and ensuring safe operation per established standards. Ideal candidates are dependable, organized, and eager to contribute to the climbing community.

Qualifications

• Experience in climbing instruction and/or route setting is preferred.
• Must have completed a Purdue Recreation & Wellness Belay Competency assessment within the past 12 months.
• Strong knowledge of climbing and bouldering safety standards for top rope, lead climbing, and bouldering.

Responsibilities

• Instruct participants in safe climbing, belaying, and bouldering.
• Facilitate climbing programs and workshops (Top-Rope Belay, Lead Belay, Technical Skills).
• Deliver engaging instruction and act as a resource for techniques, equipment, and safety.
