The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a Climbing Arborist in Santa Cruz to trim and remove trees outdoors. Work includes pruning, removing deadwood, and installing protective systems using DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing methods with emphasis on safety and client satisfaction.

You will join a crew, operate equipment, and follow safety protocols. The role offers paid time off, advancement opportunities, and a strong employee-owned culture.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors is essential.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights preferred.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Preferred: relevant licenses/certificates as required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Operate as active crew member with ground crew and crew leader.
• Perform pruning and removal safely and skillfully for clients.
• Install cables, bracing and lightning protection systems as needed.
• Maintain, prepare and operate tools and equipment including chainsaws and chippers.
