The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a Climbing Arborist to join the Santa Cruz team. You will trim and remove trees, protect health and safety, and work with a crew to deliver professional tree care services on site.

Applicants should love the outdoors and may need forestry or horticulture background. Training programs, safety gear, and full-time opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights is preferred.
• Must complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Must complete Davey First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Preferred: pesticide licenses/certificates if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Work as part of a crew with ground crew and crew leader.
• Perform pruning and removal safely and skillfully for clients.
• Include pruning, thinning and deadwood removal throughout the canopy.
• Install cables, bracing and lightning protection; remove hazardous trees.
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment such as chainsaws and aerial lifts.

Pay Compensation: $24.00 - $28.00

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and crew leader.
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.
• Including but not limited to:
• Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy
• Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems
• Removal of hazardous trees
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.
