Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a climbing arborist trainee for an outdoor role in East Dundee, IL. You’ll start by learning to climb trees and performing pruning and removal tasks with a safety-first approach.

You will train on equipment like chainsaws, chippers, and lifts, participate in a comprehensive orientation and safety program, and enjoy paid time off, health benefits, and opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• Love of outdoors.
• Preferred: Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Learn to climb trees and be paid to do that.
• Learn to perform pruning and removal safely and skillfully for clients.
• Learn how to install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
• Assist in removal of hazardous trees.
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts, and more.
