The Davey Tree Expert Company in West Chicago, IL, is seeking a climbing arborist trainee. Your office is outdoors, and you will join a tree crew, learning to climb trees and perform pruning and removal safely. Start with on-site duties and progressive skill development.

You will learn to identify trees, follow pruning guidelines, install supports, and assist in hazardous-tree removal, while maintaining tools and equipment. Starting pay is $20–$23 per hour with opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Willingness to complete Davey Tree Orientation Program on hire.
• Willingness to complete First Aid, CPR and defensive driving courses on hire.

Responsibilities

• Learn to climb trees and be a member of a tree crew.
• Learn to perform pruning and removal safely and learn industry guidelines.
• Learn to install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
• Assist in removal of hazardous trees.
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers and aerial lifts.
• Grow in the role based on performance and dedication.
