Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a motivated Climbing Arborist Trainee to join our outdoor team in Lake Bluff, IL. You’ll learn to climb trees, prune and remove limbs, and support safety-focused tree-care work under experienced crew members.

This entry-level role offers on-the-job training, industry certifications, paid time off, a 401(k) plan, and opportunities for advancement across locations nationwide.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors is essential.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights is preferred.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide licenses/certificates as required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Learn to climb trees; we will pay you to do that.
• Operate as a member of a tree crew while progressively learning new skills.
• Learn to perform pruning and removal services safely and skillfully, including tree identification and pruning guidelines.
• Learn to install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
• Assist in removal of hazardous trees.
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment safely, including chainsaws and chippers.
