Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company in Naperville, IL seeks a climbing arborist trainee for an on-site outdoor role. Learn tree climbing, pruning, and removal under a seasoned crew while developing essential skills in safety and client service.

You will receive hands-on training, access to equipment, and growth opportunities as you progress toward advanced tree-care tasks, with starting pay of $20–$23 per hour and a full benefits package.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Preferred: pesticide licenses and certificates, if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Learn to climb trees and work as a member of a tree crew.
• Progressively learn pruning and removal skills.
• Learn to perform pruning and removal safely and skillfully.
• Identify trees and follow pruning guidelines.
• Learn installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems.
• Assist in removal of hazardous trees.
• Maintain and operate all tools and equipment safely.
