Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company in Glen Burnie, MD is seeking a Climbing Arborist to prune and remove trees from elevation using DdRT/MRS or SRT/SRS systems. Your office is outdoors, offering a dynamic daily view while delivering high-quality tree care.

You will climb and operate safely with ground crew support, perform pruning, removal, cabling, and protective measures, and maintain equipment. The role emphasizes safety, outdoor work, and a commitment to expert tree services for clients.

Qualifications

• Preferred forestry, horticulture, landscaping background, or working at heights.
• Able to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program on hire.
• Must love the outdoors and safety-focused work.
• Willing to complete first aid, CPR, and defensive driving on hire.
• Pesticide licenses may be required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Perform pruning and removal safely and skillfully for clients.
• Install cables, bracing and lightning protection where needed.
• Maintain, prepare and operate tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts.

Position Overview

Climbing Arborist. Trim and remove trees, remove unwanted, diseased or dying limbs on trees, or to affect the health and safety of trees or surrounding areas by performing the following duties.

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• How high you grow depends on you!
• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and foreman.
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.
• Including but not limited to:
• Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy
• Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems
• Removal of hazardous trees
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts

and more.

Qualifications

What We’re Seeking:

• Preferred: Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Love of the outdoors
• Ability to complete the Davey first aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
