Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a Climbing Arborist Crew Leader to direct a crew and execute arboricultural tasks outdoors in Gaithersburg, MD. Your office is outside, and you’ll use climbing systems like DdRT/MRS or SRT/SRS to access canopies.

You’ll mentor teammates through Davey’s Career Development Program, maintain equipment, and lead safety and planning efforts on each job. This permanent, on-site role offers benefits including paid time off, retirement plan with company match,

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Complete Davey Tree Orientation Program upon hire.
• Complete Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving courses upon hire.
• Pesticide licenses preferred.
• ISA/TCIA certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead a crew in arboricultural care on job sites.
• Climb using DdRT/MRS or SRT/SRS systems.
• Oversee hazards, planning, and equipment (H.O.P.E) processes.
• Prune, thin, and remove deadwood in the canopy.
• Install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
• Remove hazardous trees.
• Mentor crew through the Davey Career Development Program.
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment (chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts).

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Safely and productively lead a crew in providing arboricultural care for our clients.
• Including but not limited to:
• Jobsite Hazards, Obstacles, Plan, Equipment (H.O.P.E) process
• Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy
• Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems
• Removal of hazardous trees
• Mentor crew members through the Davey Career Development Program.
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking for:

• Love of the outdoors
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates
• Preferred: ISA Certified Arborist ®, ISA Certified Tree Worker ®, and/or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional ®
