Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a dynamic Climbing Arborist to join our Gaithersburg team. Your office is outdoors as you trim and remove trees, install cables, bracing and lightning protection while prioritizing safety and client service.

You'll work alongside experienced ground crews, complete the Davey Tree Orientation and safety trainings on hire, and have access to paid time off, 401(k) with company match and health benefits. Travel up to 25% may be required.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Preferred: pesticides licenses and certificates, if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Climb and prune trees using Davey systems.
• Work with ground crew and crew leader to perform pruning and removal safely.

• Remove hazardous trees and operate tools and equipment safely.

Position Overview

Trim and remove trees, remove unwanted, diseased or dying limbs on trees, or to affect the health and safety of trees or surrounding areas by performing the following duties.

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and crew leader.
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.
• Including but not limited to:
• Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy
• Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems
• Removal of hazardous trees
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.

Qualifications

What We’re Seeking:

• Love of the outdoors
