The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a dynamic Climbing Arborist to join our Austin team. Your office is outdoors, and you will engage in tree pruning, removal, and health/safety work across various sites.

Responsibilities include climbing with professional systems, coordinating with ground crews, and installing support systems like cables and braces. We provide safety gear and career development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors and physical work in outdoor settings.
• Experience climbing trees and performing pruning/removal safely.
• Background in forestry, horticulture, landscaping or working at heights preferred.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using DdRT/MRS or SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Work with ground crew and crew lead to perform pruning and removal safely.
• Prune and remove deadwood, install cables/bracing, and remove hazardous trees.
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment such as chainsaws and aerial lifts.

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and crew leader.
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.
• Including but not limited to:
• Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy
• Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems
• Removal of hazardous trees
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.

Qualifications

What We’re Seeking:

• Love of the outdoors
• 1 year tree climbing expereince
• Preferred: Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
