Job summary

The Climate Jobs Institute at Cornell University’s ILR School invites qualified candidates for the Extension Associate (Training and Education) role. Based in New York with possible locations in NYC, Buffalo, Ithaca, or approved remote sites, the position focuses on designing and delivering engaging training for unions and labor allies.

Collaborate with leadership to set strategic direction, develop curricula, assess needs, and advance climate and labor education across NYS.

Qualifications

• Master or advanced degree in a related subject matter with labor, climate, or workforce development focus.
• 2–5 years of experience with labor movements, climate work, or social justice.
• Experience developing and delivering educational programming in-person and virtual formats.
• Strong written communication, policy research and analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement educational convenings, trainings, and workshops for unions and labor partners, in-person and online.
• Design strategic training programs with labor organizations, creating facilitator and participant materials.
• Develop content with subject matter experts and coordinate curricula updates with the institute.
• Assess training needs and delivery methods; conduct program evaluations and field testing.
• Build relationships with labor unions, worker organizations, environmental groups, and legislators.
