Job summary

The Barr Foundation is seeking a full-time Program Associate to support the Climate team, managing grantmaking processes, contracts, and data workflows across 150+ grantees and ~40 contractors. You will collaborate with internal teams to implement processes, track tasks, and maintain datasets essential to advancing the program’s strategic goals.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and proficient in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace, with interest in Asana and Salesforce.

  • Comfort working with quantitative data and budgeting tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, collect, organize, and synthesize information from various data sources.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to manage relationships with a broad range of people (internal and external).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google applications; experience with project management tools (e.g., Asana) and database systems (e.g., Salesforce) is a plus.
  • Experience with nonprofit or philanthropic organizations is a plus.
  • Academic coursework or professional/volunteer experience in clean energy, transportation, resilience, environmental justice, or public policy is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Grantmaking and Contracts Support: streamline grants and contracts from concept to approval; manage documentation and liaise with the Grants Management Team.
  • Maintain processes to monitor contract invoices, grant payments, and reports; ensure timely and accurate data in systems.
  • Proactive project management: track internal deadlines, manage workload across workstreams, and support meetings and events.
  • Coordinate with consultants for event management or facilitation support as needed.
  • Facilitate Climate team engagements with Communications and Learning and Evaluation teams; participate in Climate team meetings.
  • Foundation-wide responsibilities: participate in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives and cross-functional activities.
