Job summary

Sustainable Finger Lakes invites applications for a Fall/Spring Communications and Outreach Internship based in Ithaca, NY. The role runs 10 hours per week from August 24, 2026 to May 28, 2027, with duties including outreach, press writing, social media updates, and campaign support across the Finger Lakes region.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 or older, a resident of New York State and either currently a student or a recent graduate.
• Ideal candidate has strong organizational and interpersonal skills, working knowledge on climate action and clean energy, outgoing personality, ability to work independently, familiarity with digital media and websites, and can provide own transportation.

Responsibilities

• Participate as a team member in the outreach and programming of Sustainable Finger Lakes.
• Write press releases and feature articles for local media to share clean energy stories.
• Post updates to social media and websites for Finger Lakes Climate Fund and SFLX.
• Research potential regional businesses to join FLECA and recruit them as carbon offsetting partners.
• Update website and social media; create short videos using Canva; write and edit short articles; provide community education at events and door-to-door; give talks to groups about programs.
