Job summary

Turtle Island Restoration Network’s SPAWN Communications Intern position supports social media, press releases, webinars, and streamlined communications practices. The role offers hands-on experience in environmental protection communications, with potential for remote work for qualified candidates.

The internship runs July 15 through December 31, 2026, with a 30-hour week minimum and a $100 monthly stipend. Housing is available in West Marin, CA, and academic credit may be available.

Qualifications

• Proficient with PC or Mac and internet communications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and organize oneself.
• Ability to project a positive image of the organization.
• Creative thinker with interest in developing new outreach methods.
• Strong interest in nature and the environment; openness to paradigm-shifting ideas for outreach.

Responsibilities

• Meet with the executive director weekly and the communications manager as needed.
• Create new website content using WordPress or Squarespace (not required to be proficient in both).
• Interview program staff to generate social media content, website content, and press releases.
• Data analysis to measure outreach impact; generate and follow metrics.
• Establish, support, and execute a members webinar series on Zoom.
