Job summary

FM offers a summer internship focused on underwriting, engineering and claims, developing foundational risk assessment and client-service skills. You will assist Account Managers and Underwriters with rating, pricing and coverage analysis while gaining exposure to FM's processes and client meetings.

Interns will learn loss prevention concepts, read Risk Reports, and support exposure identification for FM's clients, preparing for a career in finance and risk management.

Qualifications

• Academic Credentials (3.0 GPA or above)
• Plan to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Risk Management, or other applicable degree
• Ability to work full-time during summer internship and commute to assigned operation
• Outstanding analytical, problem solving, negotiation and computer skills

Responsibilities

• Assist Account Managers and Underwriters in rating, pricing, and analysis of coverages and terms

Our program will focus on the day-to-day business handlings of our three core business functions - underwriting, engineering and claims.

Responsibilities

This position is accountable for developing basic underwriting and engineering skills needed for identification and assessment of risk. This skill set is used for application of underwriting standards. Individuals in this position will be exposed to underwriting, engineering, relationship management and client servicing.

• Provides assistance to Account Managers and Underwriters in handling details such as rating and pricing, analysis of coverages, terms and conditions, value analysis and certificates of insurance.
• Gains an understanding of FM's capabilities and processes, attend client/broker meetings
• Assist in ensuring that client-facing documents are development consistently and in line with our marketing standards
• Learns loss prevention and control concepts, including how to read and utilize information from Risk Reports and utilize their knowledge to assist the Account Manager in exposure identification and analysis.
