Job summary

Mayatax, a Houston-based tax, accounting, and business services firm, seeks a proactive onboarding specialist to manage the first 60 days with new clients. You will excel at gathering data, setting expectations, and coordinating with delivery teams while spotting cross-sell opportunities and supporting outbound initiatives.

You will read trial balances, explain messy books to owners, and maintain strong client relationships, all within a hands-on, revenue-influencing role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• 2–4 years at a CPA firm or client accounting services role.
• Experience reading trial balances and explaining books to owners.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end client onboarding from signed engagement to delivery handoff.
• Lead kickoff calls to confirm scope, dates, access, priorities.
• Review prior-year returns and financials to identify gaps and risks.
• Set up clients in Canopy, QuickBooks Online, or Xero and create initial workflows.
• Coordinate with delivery teams to ensure timely, accurate deliverables.
• Flag scope mismatches and right-size engagements early.
• Maintain onboarding checklists and templates; suggest improvements.
• Track onboarding metrics such as time to first deliverable and retention.
