Overview:

At M&T we’re not your stereotypical suit and tie bankers. We’re a team of experts, pushing boundaries, and being creative thinkers. The Client Engagement Team is looking for someone who can conceptualize, develop, execute and evaluate event strategy across specific market segment or business lines as well as geographic regions. The role could be a team lead (without supervisory responsibility) which could entail coaching others and/or guiding third-party (contractor) activities.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Understands mission, vision, and strategic direction of the Marketing Department as well as the broader enterprise.
  • Define and oversee a strategic program of events designed to build reach and reputation for the M&T and Wilmington Trust Brand among target consumers in the New England area. This program is created in conjunction with the Market’s business objectives, as well as the firm’s overarching brand guidelines.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for domain.Able to influence, create alignment, and inspire action across colleagues.
  • Oversite and project management of all aspects of events from inception to execution to follow up. This includes seeking out creative ideas, relevant content concepts, strategic partner and alliance collaborations, executive enrollment and client communications. In addition to being on-site to oversee logistics, the adherence to brand guidelines, the objective, target audience, and measurement of success and follow-up activities.
  • Provides direction and oversite to administrative & sales teams in the region, who work to support event execution.
  • Define, gather and maintain metrics around overarching program effectiveness.
  • Become the marketing “go to” person for tactical execution resources and planning services for the region.
  • Develop positive and collaborative relationships with regional leadership, as well as sales and support teams in the field.
  • Partner with and inform Marketing peers, including Sponsorship Team members, PR, Social Media, Charitable, and CRM to activate broadly. Including ownership of regional sponsorships and charitable partnerships that primarily focus on events.
  • Manage associated promotional opportunities and meet deadlines.
  • Know your region; research and explore new event venues, restaurants, private clubs, etc. and bring forward ideas for high-touch client experiences.
  • Research outside speakers for high level client events and ensure their reputation and messaging align with the bank’s core business principles.
  • Oversee tactics related to the success of an event; enticing invitations, social media posts, event briefs and creative concepts, attendee Bio’s, production schedules as well as other ad-hoc communications as needed and directed by the Head of Events.
  • Partners with creative design services, brand, procurement, PR, Exec offices.
  • Communicates clearly with team members as well as stakeholders across the enterprise.
  • Supports the implementation of procedures, practices, and routines within area.
  • May represent M&T/Wilmington Trust in external events for research and networking activities that benefit the company.
  • Able to complete assigned work with little or no assistance from others.Proactively and effectively leverages other team members to complete assignments
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor's Degree

5 years of marketing experience (Or in Lieu of a degree, a combination of 9 years of higher education and relevant experience)

Experience in dealing with escalated issues and resolving unique and significantly complex problems

Has demonstrated strong working relationships with internal and external partners

Ability to research, evaluate and recommend changes to initiative or project

Experience in mentoring and/or onboarding more junior talent

Technical Expert and/or independent judgment

Some travel required (30-50% - mostly regional between New England and NY, occasionally other markets as needed for events); Upon initial hiring, frequent trips between NY and Boston will be required for approximately the first six (6) months.

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $98,720.40 - $164,534.00 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation. Location Boston, Massachusetts, United States of America
