• Provides consultation to develop external client communications solutions that drive identified outcomes.
• Translates business strategies and initiatives into messaging and content.
• Prioritizes communications and messages to maximize impact on target audiences and business outcomes.
• Drives the execution of all phases of the external client communications process, including conception, implementation, and measurement.
• Leads day-to-day external client communication activities.
• Resolves conflicts over content or external client communication channel recommendations by acting as a trusted advisor to influence, coach, and negotiate with stakeholders.
• Improves end-to-end communication processes by applying current and evolving industry standards, while complying with Vanguard brand.
• Develops and strengthens working relationships with key influencers across the organization and in the industry to support external client communications and business objectives.

• Provides consultation to develop external client communications solutions that drive identified outcomes. Translates business strategies and initiatives into messaging and content. Prioritizes communications and messages to maximize impact on target audiences and business outcomes.
• Creates effective and compelling external client communications content based on deep understanding of target audience and the broader operating environment.
• Drives the execution of all phases of the external client communications process, including conception, implementation, and measurement. Leads day-to-day external client communication activities.
• Resolves conflicts over content or external client communication channel recommendations by acting as a trusted advisor to influence, coach, and negotiate with stakeholders.
• Improves end-to-end communication processes by applying current and evolving industry standards, while complying with Vanguard brand. Proactively sources news and stories for broader application.
• Develops and strengthens working relationships with key influencers across the organization and in the industry to support external client communications and business objectives.
• Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
• Ability to manage and influence complex relationships with a sponsoring organization, plan sponsor provider, external consultant, or strategic partner.
• Experience developing standardized communication frameworks that support growth while maintaining effectiveness.
• Capability to identify systemic participant engagement gaps and recommend scalable solutions.
• Experience identifying high-impact communication moments and activating effective education strategies.
• Knowledge of participant behavior and decision-making across enrollment, advice adoption, retirement readiness, and separation events.
• Understanding of managed accounts, advice programs, financial wellness solutions, and their integration into the participant experience.
• Understanding and knowing the scalable communication libraries, playbooks, and resources that can be leveraged for Plan Sponsor needs
• Ability to establish communication standards, best practices, and governance frameworks across a large client population.
• Skilled at balancing standardization with exception-based customization for high-value opportunities.
• Proven ability to influence product, marketing, digital, servicing, operations, and compliance teams to improve participant outcomes

Qualifications

• Minimum five years related work experience, two years within Financial Services industry or function preferred.
• Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.
