Job summary

Vrakas CPAs + Advisors is looking for an Accounting Supervisor to join our Client Advisory Service team in downtown Chicago. The following responsibilities, opportunities, and requirements for this hybrid position are as follows:

Responsibilities and Opportunities

• Manage and deliver accurate weekly and monthly client accounting, including reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close in QuickBooks/QBO
• Prepare client-ready financial statements and reporting packages; clearly explain results to business owners and internal teams
• Perform variance and flux analysis to identify issues, root causes, and practical solutions
• Build and maintain recurring client reporting packages and dashboards (KPIs, key metrics, and narrative insights)
• Strengthen internal controls and improve accounting processes (documentation, checklists, and close calendars)
• Partner with client owners/management to resolve accounting issues and improve decision-ready reporting
• Supervise, review, and coach associates by assigning work, providing clear direction, and enforcing quality standards
• Contribute to special projects and process improvements that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and client satisfaction

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience providing accounting services in public accounting, strongly preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Must possess the required credit hours for CPA licensure eligibility
• Ability to work in the office a minimum of 2–3 days per week
• Strong GAAP knowledge and financial statement preparation skills
• Advanced Excel proficiency (reconciliations, rollforwards, data cleanup, reporting)
• High integrity, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple client engagements
• Self-motivated with a results-driven mindset and dedication to delivering exceptional client service

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Public Accounting designation
• 1+ years of proven supervisory or mentor experience
• Passion for problem-solving and being a technical resource for team members

Individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on their and the firm's performance. The estimated salary range for this role is $75,000-$98,000. Individual salaries are determined based on multiple factors, including the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and location.
